Watch more than 30 hours of great Olympics moments on ESPN Classic, every night from 8pm, from Monday 9th July up until the Opening Ceremony, including:

ESPN Classic will broadcast a series of programmes this July dedicated to the greatest stories, moments and achievements in Olympic history, as the sporting world builds to the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The programming begins on 9th July and runs every day between 8pm – 10pm until 26th July as the sports media company brings viewers a host of documentaries and highlights from previous Games, including the premiere of Olympia, the official film of the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.

New and exclusive to ESPN Classic is Top 20 Olympic Moments, a list bursting with athletes who took their sport to another level, including the controversial, record breaking and sensational. There is no shortage of great performances to choose from more than 100 years of Olympic history, offering the perfect build-up as the world’s top athletes plan to make their mark in London.

Who are the fastest, highest and strongest of all time? Who deserves the ultimate honour as the greatest Olympian? ESPN Classic attempt to answer that question in the build-up to London 2012 with a brand new production as it selects its 20 greatest Olympians of the modern Games. Based on their medal hauls, toughness of opposition, profile of their event and their impact on Olympic history, ESPN invites you to join them as it counts down one of sport’s most prestigious lists.

  • SUMMER OLYMPICS FILM: LONDON 1948 | Thursday 19th July at 8:00pm

Continuing ESPN Classic’s Olympic theme and commitment to providing quality sporting documentaries, ESPN Classic will be airing Summer Olympic Film: London 1948. London 1948, reviews the last time London hosted an Olympic Games, known as the Austerity Games, it was the first for 12 years after an enforced break due to the Second World War. The film looks back at some of the great performances, including Fanny Blankers-Koen four gold medals and Bob Mathias’s record breaking Long Jump.

  • OLYMPIA | Sunday 22nd July at 10pm

Airing in its entirety on television for the first time, Olympia is the groundbreaking documentary film capturing the 1936 Olympic Games. The film represents a snapshot of cultural, sporting and filmmaking history, and will give fans a remarkable, important and at times sobering look through the window of history to the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. Created by Leni Riefenstahl, Olympia is the official film of the Games hosted in then-Nazi-led Germany and provides a truly unique portrait of one of the most controversial times in modern history. Heralded by Time magazine as one of the 100 greatest films of all time, it used many groundbreaking sports and motion picture techniques, including unusual camera angles, smash cuts, extreme close-ups of athletes and the use of tracking rails to accurately follow action as it happened. The four-hour film will debut in its entirety on ESPN Classic at 10pm on 22nd July.
