These hour-long TV time-capsules have proved a notable success on Classic, and reach the end of their initial run this month with every chance of returning for a second series in the near future. In celebration of their culmination, Classic proudly shows again the full set, this September – with 1991’s programme being especially apt, in this month of appreciation for the career of Kenny Dalglish. Elsewhere, 1989’s recalls Nigel Mansell’s move to Ferrari, 1995 remembers a Rugby World Cup which changed South Africa forever, 2005 was the year of the England cricket team’s long-awaited Ashes success, whilst 1990 saw a similar swelling of English national pride at the football World Cup.
