Moscow 1980 – Sebastian Coe: British middle-distance runners Steve Ovett and Sebastian Coe battled it out not once, but twice over 800 and 1500 metres and Daley Thomson who led from the very first of the ten events and never looked back, finishing 164 points clear of Russia’s Yuri Kutzenko.
Sydney 2000 – Jonathan Edwards: Team GB returned with 11 gold medals (a total of 28 medals), their best showing at a Summer Games since 1920. Triple-jumper Jonathan Edwards displayed a triumphant performance that finally capped his brilliant career, and Denise Lewis showed her immense bravery to the world in Heptathlon.
